as it appeared in 1877. Notice the lack of many factories along
the lower portion of Mississippi river, through expansion and remodeling
these factorys were soon to be built now that the civil war is over
and the industrial revolution is begining. The waterway area located
directly behind the factories was later filled, now only one channel
exists. The area noted "20" is now considered Sullivan Island and
is still used as a exercise park. The foundation remnants of a steel
factory are now overgrown in trees and make a great site to exploreJohn
