county fairs with a historical emphasis that makes it unique. The fair features
a free gate, free parking, and free shuttles. It has a large midway and the
grandstand features nationally known entertainers, a PRCA Rodeo and car races.
There is a large museum and a complete early 1900's town, Pleasant Hill, on
the fairgrounds. During the fair the town is filled with craftsmen and artist
in dress of the period offering a unique shopping experience as they demonstrate
what life was like over 100 years ago.
Grandpa's Farm features old time farming demonstrations daily, weather
permitting. Be sure to see this historic look at our agricultural heritage with
all phases of farming demonstrated with steam engines, draft horses and vintage
equipment. Popular demonstrations include a wooden threshing machine powered by
seven teams of draft horses on a circular horsepower and a steam engine drawn
eight-bottom gang plow.
Saturday a draft horse pull sanctioned by the Minnesota Draft Horse Pulling
Association is held at Grandpa's Farm and on Sunday there’s an antique and
classic tractor pull. All the demonstrations and pulls at the farm are free to
fairgoers.
